Truth, lies and PC attacks

Who knew that her answer to a single question would take precedence over everything else, gain her publicity and public support that any press agent would die for, but cost her the crown?

It was a “beauty” pageant; all the contestants looked good. The outcome of the “competition” is supposed to be the best of the best – but let’s face it, the part where contestants are asked a question, the truth is, they’re expected to respond with some profound thought akin to “saving the world.”

It was a simple, honest answer. She had the courage to say it knowing it’s politically incorrect to say such things. In media interviews afterward, Prejean called the moment a test by God of her character and faith. She had no regrets; she was honest.

That didn’t hold any weight for Hilton. He took to his blog, a YouTube video and TV interviews to both denounce and defame Prejean, calling her “a dumb b-tch,” among other things. Use your imagination.

Bottom line, he said, Miss USA should be politically correct.

Pageant PR rep accuses Miss California of lying

clipped from www.fresnobee.com

SAN FRANCISCO — A spokesman for the Miss California pageant on Monday denied that contest officials told the reigning beauty queen to publicly apologize for her statement opposing same-sex marriage during the Miss USA pageant.

Carrie Prejean, 21, claimed during Sunday services at her San Diego church that producers of the state pageant told her to apologize to the gay community and to avoid mentioning religion when she appeared last week on the “Today” show and other national programs.

But San Diego public relations representative Roger Neal, who said he was one of the people advising her, called those claims lies. Contest officials urged Prejean only to reiterate that she didn’t mean to offend anyone and to use the national spotlight “to heal some wounds,” he said.

RACHAEL Finch stumbled on a question about the challenges of federal government, but that didn’t stop the Townsville model from claiming the Miss Universe Australia title last night.
The leggy brunette won over the judges despite getting tongue-tied during the Q&A section of the contest.

As well as more than $25,000 in prizes, the new Miss Universe Australia will earn the right to compete in the Miss Universe World finals to be held in the Bahamas in August.

Laura Dundovic, last year’s winner, who crowned Finch, dismissed suggestions that beauty pageants were oudated.
