Pageant Makeup Tips from Gaspar Cruz

clipped from thepageantplanet.com

Gaspar Cruz, founder of Miss Teen World, has been responsible for coaching more titleholders to the crown than I can list without getting carpal tunnel. :) He has also been responsible for the makeup of Beyonce, Faith Hill and other celebrities…including our newest celebrity, Miss America, Caressa Cameron. Gaspar not only has one of the highest success records of any pageant coach that I have heard of but is also known throughout the country as a makeup artist and evening gown designer.

Steven: What’s the difference between stage makeup and interview makeup?

During your pageant interview you need to apply a full face…lashes, eyeliner, foundation, lips…the works. The difference between stage makeup and interview makeup is that you do not need to go as dark.

My mom and I were on our way to Caitlyn’s Closet Charity on Friday March 19th. We decided to look for a bistro to stop for lunch on the way. We did not find one, however as I was driving in downtown Kernersville we drove by “Cake and All Things Yummy!” We had to stop!
Upon entering the shoppe there was an aroma of All Things Yummy! Immediately we saw decorated cupcakes and fudge….MMM! I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Sabrina Dixon and her associates.

Understanding the Cycle of Abuse

clipped from thevictimsvoices.blogspot.com

The cycle of violence in domestic abuse
Domestic abuse falls into a common pattern, or cycle of violence:
Abuse – Your abusive partner lashes out with aggressive, belittling, or violent behavior. The abuse is a power play designed to show you “who is boss.”
Guilt – After abusing you, your partner feels guilt, but not over what he’s done. He’s more worried about the possibility of being caught and facing consequences for his abusive behavior.
Set-up – Your abuser sets you up and puts his plan in motion, creating a situation where he can justify abusing you.
Your abuser’s apologies and loving gestures in between the episodes of abuse can make it difficult to leave. He may make you believe that you are the only person who can help him, that things will be different this time, and that he truly loves you. However, the dangers of staying are very real.

America’s 50s and Oregon’s 30s Meet Up At Miss Oregon Preliminary

clipped from debragilmour.blogspot.com
In support of a couple of little sister princesses participating in the Miss Lane County, Miss Linn Benton, Miss University of Oregon, and Lane County’s Perfect Teen scholarship programs, I headed to Eugene, Oregon to cheer on the 40 plus ladies vying for their chance to go to the Miss Oregon Scholarship program later this summer.

The house was packed as the families and friends of the contestants gathered to cheer for their contestants.  As it turned out, I was seated next to Britanee Buckingham’s family who had a lot to celebrate at the end of a long evening.
Congratulations to program executive director Nicole Akins for a fabulous event!  Good luck in Seaside, ladies!
