Father’s Day

clipped from deannamlinz.blogspot.com

I remember in 2006 I was sitting by the pool on a very sunny Fathers Day. My husband was deployed to Iraq and I was alone trapped in a world of thoughts. As I was sitting there, my phone rang. It was staff duty out of Germany. They called to inform me that there had been an IED attack but my husband had not been injured. They often did this as word travels fast and this helps to ease the minds of the families left behind. Unfortunately, that day one soldier lost his life and two others were injured. All I kept thinking was it was Fathers Day and the children of these men would remember this every Fathers Day for the rest of their lives. I remember this too…and will always.
On this Fathers Day, please remember to say thank you to all who serve or have served for this country. Too the Dad’s everywhere, thank you and God Bless.

SMART Girls update

clipped from jademonfils.blogspot.com
This week was the 1st class of S.M.A.R.T. Girls, that I am teaching at the Boys and Girls Club. I originally planned my curriculum with teen girls in mind, but the majority of the young ladies that were in my class ranged from 8-12. No problem, I just had to change my level of thinking. The younger girls 8 & 9 years have the shortest attention and you really have to make the content fun for them (they are in 3rd and 4th grade), while my 10 & 11 year olds are very into what their friends are doing and they tend to want to stick together in groups, so I have to make the content “cool”. The 12 year olds will understand a little more, since they are starting to realize the difference between them and the boys.

One month to go!!!

clipped from www.rachelrobertstulsa.com

I am so excited! We are less than one month away from the national pageant in Chicago!! I have been working hard at Bootcamp Tulsa and on my interview preparation. My clothes are about ready and all I have are few last minute touches to take care of like hair and nails.

I have so many thoughts running through my head. I am so excited to meet all the other women and to have the opportunity to see Chicago! I have never been, but have always wanted to visit!

There are so many people I have to thank for helping me on this journey! All of my sponsors, friends and most importantly… my family. I hope to represent Oklahoma the best I possibly can and I will do my best to make you proud! Thank you for all of your support, prayers and encouragement!!
