A Courageous Beauty Interview: Mrs. Alaska America 2009-Erika Bennett

clipped from godusesbrokenvessels.blogspot.com
Angie: What interested you in pageants?
Erika: When I was nine years old my mother was Mrs. Alaska-America 1980, that left a lasting impression on me.  She proceeded to become involved with the Miss Alaska scholarship pageant system for many years after that and also opened a talent agency in Alaska.  I saw the good that can come out of pageants and know they can be fun, so I entered a few teen pageants (didn’t win any).
Angie: Why did you decide to compete?
Erika: I competed for Mrs. Alaska-America three times.  I think the main reason I tried the first time was because of my mother.  Each time I had so much fun and really had a chance to focus on myself for a change that I ran again.  This year (2009) I competed mainly to help “force” me to get back into my pre-baby shape and allow myself some “me time” after having my daughter.

Miss America 2000 visits Region 8

clipped from www.kait8.com

BAY, AR (KAIT) – Some Region 8 teens who want to improve their pageant skills had the chance to talk to pageant professional on Saturday.

The 2000 winner of the Miss America Pageant Heather French was at Jessica’s Bridal and Formal in Bay.  French helped show girls the type of dresses to wear that make you feel comfortable on stage.  She said knowing what to do on stage can help, but winning isn’t everything.

“I want them to know that even if they don’t walk away with the crown that their experience and their time was well spent in competing in pageants,” said Heather French.

Miss Oklahoma, a ripped skirt, Pop Rocks, and other strange things on planes

clipped from hpoole.wordpress.com

Obviously the best thing about being a flight attendant is being able to travel at a moments notice, as long as there’s an open seat available on the flight. The second best thing about being a flight attendant has got to be all those days off! The third best thing about being a flight attendant is that we never know what the day will bring, and being able to leave that day behind as soon as we step off the plane – the good, the bad, and the ugly. Or the not so ugly as was the case on my last trip.
